Church as a Business
As we tend to the needs of our flock and spread the word of God, it's easy to forget that there is much more to operating a successful church than just those things. As you might imagine, the question of whether a church is a business and if so, what kind of business is it occasionally comes up. In our view, the answer is clear. The church indeed must operate like a business when it comes to internal operations, but from the standpoint of the "products and services" provided, a church has enormous complexity and responsibility in the external world.
In order to best serve our community and our parishioners, we must have a successful "business" operation. We have to have excellent employees, manage our money well, communicate and exercize our mission, operate our committes efficiently and effectively and a host of other business-like operations.
However, when it comes to you, our members and the community we serve, our goal of delivering the gospel and service to all is the primary focus. We hope you agree.
